(1870’s) Amber Whiskey Bottle (Hand-blown)
Tooled Lip
with Large Glass Bubble. No Marks, No Embossing
Note: This type of bottle is often faked.
When I first saw it, I thought this was probably a fake, but then I noticed
that this was hand-blown (as evidenced by the glass bubbles and lack of mold
lines). It would be too expensive to fake an antique bottle by hand-blowing it,
so I have concluded that this bottle IS antique. However, I suspect that the outer
patina may have been faked. Why, I don’t know. Most antique bottles don’t
command a great market price, and this one seems common enough.
So I vote for antique bottle with faked
patina.
