Note: Polished Lapis Lazuli is quite lovely, with its bright blue and sparkly pyrite inclusions. However, I was especially drawn to this unpolished carving, with its lighter and flatter blue. The pyrite is still sparkly, perhaps standing out more because of the more muted blue. When I rub the surface with my fingers, I can create a darker version of the surface.

My partner bought this for me for my birthday – never ask a rockhound what they want for their birthday, LOL!!!

 

By the way, the surface in these photos is darker blue than it is in the real sculpture. Goes to show that photos don’t always tell the whole truth.
